Death & Co opened on East 6th Street in 2006 and became one of the founding rooms of the modern craft-cocktail era — the bar that turned drink-making into a discipline, spawned award-winning books, and trained a generation of bartenders who went on to open their own celebrated rooms across the country.
The menu runs deep and changes seasonally, organized to help you navigate dozens of originals; tell the staff what you like and trust them. The space is dark and close, candles and low ceilings, best experienced early before the crowd builds. Walk-ins queue at opening; later arrivals leave a name and drink nearby until the text comes.
